Is there a meal that you make that is pretty frugal (less than $5)...you can feed your whole family...and is fairly healthy?
I recently made my family of 5 "spaghetti". Over time, I've found that the kids like eating it better with rotini noodles...and I like it too! Using the noodles that easily scoop into a spoon for them means less mess! :)
I made "spaghetti" and garlic cheese biscuits.
1 box Barilla Whole Grain Rotini Noodles $.55
1 jar Ragu pasta sauce $.70
2 c. Heart Healthy Bisquick $.43
1/2 c. Kraft cheddar cheese $.38
2/3 c. milk $.08
1/2 stick margarine $.10
small amounts of garlic powder & basil (on hand)
Total: $2.24
I also serve with salad but I am the only one that eats it so that is also minimal in cost.
Garlic Cheese Biscuits
2 c. Bisquick
2/3 c. milk
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. margarine, melted
1/4 t. garlic powder
dried basil
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine Bisquick, milk and cheese and mix together well. Drop dough onto cookie sheets making 12 biscuits. Bake 7-9 minutes, till golden brown. Combine margarine and garlic powder and brush over biscuits. Lightly sprinkle biscuits with basil. Serve warm.
Please share your frugal meal ideas!!!
