I've heard this song, One Life to Love, by 33 Miles, many times recently. Last night I was out & about running some errands (grabbing some good deals, of course!), enjoying some time all to myself and heard it again. My first thoughts were...it sounds a little bit country! ;) And then as I continued to listen more closely I realized that there is a huge message in this song. It really made me think.
I thought about all of the opportunities I've missed to show the love of Christ to others. And why do I miss those opportunities? Is it because I let fear get in the way? Do you do this?
I thought about how sometimes we think we have to do something BIG in order for it to matter. Why do we think like that? Why do we think that things have to be huge in order for them to matter? And when we think we have to do BIG things in order for them to matter...does it make us too busy to the point where we put God and the people we care about the most on the back burner? Something Tom said a few weeks ago in his sermon stuck with me, "If Satan can't make you bad, he'll make you busy". I chuckled when Tom said it...but think about it...when we get too busy with "stuff" it causes us to fall in other areas. When we're too busy we can't reach out to others as often as we should because we're caught up in the "stuff".
It made me think about the sermon on Sunday and Romans 12...when we don't use the gifts God has given us, we're cheating others. We all have gifts...why don't we use them? God gave us those gifts to use for HIM...why aren't we putting them to good use for His glory?
I had to ask myself...am I making the most of EVERY moment I have here on earth? This is time that God gave me...what am I doing with it? Am I loving others as I should? Am I looking for love in the wrong places when I know that THE only TRUE love is in Christ?
Take a listen...
What are you thinking about? Are you living a life of love?
I don't want to live my life and look back and have regrets. We are given ONE life to make a difference...let's use it...for HIM!
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. --Ephesians 5:1-2
