I love these! I got this recipe from my sister, Lori, quite a while ago. So YUMMY!!
They are so easy to make and they are made with things you most likely have on hand...therefore pretty frugal to put together!
Sweet & Sour Meatballs
1 1/2 # ground beef
1 c. bread crumbs
salt & pepper, to taste
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped onion (optional--I usually leave out)
Mix all of this together; make into balls and place in 9x13 baking dish.
Sauce:
1 c. ketchup
3T. brown sugar
4 t. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. water
4 t. vinegar
Mix together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; then pour over meatballs.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Turn meatballs halfway through cooking (or don't if you forget like me!)
*These work well for the freezer too! If you have extra dishes you could do all of the steps up till baking, cover well and freeze. Just pull the dish from the freezer when you're ready to use it, thaw and bake. I don't have room for a 9x13 in my freezer all of the time, so I made the meatballs, put them on a cookie sheet to flash freeze. Then I made the sauce and let it cool. Once the meatballs were frozen enough I put them into a freezer bag and then poured the sauce over top and sealed it. I let them thaw and then dumped it all into a baking dish to bake.
Enjoy!! :)
