From a Reader: Rite Aid Deal

I am not a Rite Aid shopper...sometimes I wonder if I should be; I just don't have the time. Kroger & Meijer are about my limit these days and even that is limited, it seems.

Here is a deal a reader sent me...I don't understand how all of the rewards, etc. work but if you're a Rite Aid shopper, you will probably know what this means...and if not, don't be afraid to ask at Rite Aid how everything works! Here is what my reader friend wrote:

I stopped in there today and had $2 in rewards from a previous trip.

I was buying Aussie/Herbal Essence shampoo. It was on sale for $2.99
each with a $2 reward back for each one.

I had 2 coupons for $1 off of 2. I purchased 4 for $12.00 and got the
$2 rewards off + $2 off in coupons.

Got the 4 of them for $8 and got $8 back in rewards.

Went back to the shaving aisle and got my husband 4 Gillette shave gels that were on
sale for $1.97 each...used my $8 in rewards and got them for FREE!!!!!!!!
(...because the 4 at $1.97 didn't add up to $8..I had to buy something
to make it equal $8...found a pack of gum for 25 cents) ..and of
course had to pay tax.

Did you follow all of that???? :)

Figured out that when using rewards...DEFINITELY break up your
purchases, so you can use your reward $$ right away!

Rite Aid Deal

I am not a Rite Aid shopper. I maybe go there once or twice a year. I recently met Jackie who has a heart for Rite Aid.

To give us all some pointers on how Rite Aid works to get a deal this week, Jackie wrote this:

Riteaid has a great deal this week on oral health where you can mix and match things and get money back.

First, you have to have a wellness card (like a Kroger card).

Second, you get more deals by going on their website and watching the videos they have to earn riteaid coupons which then you can also use the manufacturers coupons.

Third, you have to sign up to receive riteaid rebate checks at the end of the month (you put in your receipts and at the end of the month they send you a check back for that money. You can only request this once a month so don't do it til the end of the month. Plus you are limited to one time deal this way.

If you spend $15 on the oral health, you get $5 back on a gift card. Spend $25 you get a $10 card back. They have crest prohealth mouthwash 4 of $20. You get $10 back in a single check rebate from this. If you find something else to get you to $25 spent, you can use a $5 off coupon from the rideaid videos bringing your total to $25 saved ($10 rebate check, $10 gift card, and $5 off at the register). If you have a riteaid coupon to go with them or manufacturers coupons then it pays for your tax.

Using the $5 off $25 really helps when you see you things you need in the flyer. It just depends on what you want that will help you get the good deals. They have up rewards coupons that you can use on your next purchase, and sometimes you can couple it for something that they offer free in the rebates. You pay up front and then get it back at the end of the month.

Rite Aid Deal

I've been reading several frugal blogs for a little while now and several of them recommend shopping at CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid. They all come out with some great deals! I'm making it my mission to figure out these places and how their deals work. I don't know of a CVS all that close to my house so I don't look at their ads but have been checking out the Walgreens and Rite Aid ads recently. I've read where some frugal bloggers hardly ever pay much of anything for toiletry type stuff (toothpaste, toothbrushes, makeup, shampoo/conditioner, soap, feminine products, etc.). I've seen where one woman has said that she hasn't paid for any toiletries for about 3 years. This is amazing to me!

When the kids go back to school I'll probably focus on finding drugstore deals more often. For now I'll go when I can...and since Rite Aid is near our library (which we frequent often!), I seem to be finding myself there a little more often and the cashier is remembering us--good or bad...I'm not sure!? LOL! So, at Rite Aid today I got a great deal! In their ad for this week, they have Stayfree maxi pads buy one, get one free. In Sunday's coupon inserts there was a coupon for the same deal--buy one, get one free. I wasn't sure how this would work since the sale was BOGO and so was the coupon. Rite Aid allows you to get their sale AND use the BOGO coupon. I had 2 coupons for this because I had picked up an extra paper on Sunday and got 4 packages for FREE!

Do you shop at the local drugstores? What kind of deals do you get on toiletry items? I've also read where they have some good food prices (with coupons) but haven't seen anything I'm willing to buy yet...maybe soon though!?
