My Shopping Trip and the Power of Coupons!

Last night I headed out for some time to myself. I was going to grab some charcoal because there was a really good deal at Home Depot but unfortunately they were out and they do not do rain checks. BUMMER!

Anyway...I moved on and headed to Target, Kroger and Giant Eagle to see if I could find any good deals. Tomorrow I am going to run into Meijer quick to grab a few birthday party supplies and Chex Mix. Believe it or not, my kids are NOT sick of that stuff yet and still LOVE it! We are down to one bag after having bags AND bags for months and months. I'm pretty set with stuff around here for a while so I think my shopping will be limited for the next month...other than scoring stuff like this:

I spent $5.42 for everything in the picture (PLUS 2 boxes of Capri-Suns that we forgot about in the garage)!!

Target--spent $2.88 after coupons
2 bottles of Shout ($2.24 ea.)
2 boxes of Band-aids for Kids ($1.82 ea.)
1 box of Nexcare Bandages ($1.87 ea.)
*I got good deals on these items because I was able to combine manufacturer coupons and Target store coupons on each item.

Giant Eagle--spent $.49 after sales & coupons

Seedless Watermelon ($3.99)
Knorr Recipe Mix (on sale @ $1.50)
*Used $4.00 in catalina coupons on this order

Kroger--spent $2.05 after sales & coupons
2 packages of Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Lunch Meat ($3.89 ea.)
2 bags of Kroger Shredded Cheese (on sale @ $1.50 ea.)
13 bags of Lifesavers Mints/Hard Candy (on sale @ $1.00 ea.)
2 cans of Dole Pineapple ($1.39 ea.)
1 Butterfinger ($.50)
2 Caprisuns ($1.99 ea.)
*Used $3.00 in catalina coupons on this order, plus free item coupons for the lunch meat and candy bar. All of the Lifesavers were FREE except for 2 bags.

Some of the coupons are no longer available or are coupons that you may not have which is why I did not list them all. If you are curious about a coupon, just ask...I can see if I can help you locate them if they are still available.

Are you finding any good deals this week??

My Target Trip!

If you know me well, you probably know that I'm not a huge fan of Target when it comes to using coupons. I have had several issues there in the past when it comes to using coupons.

I have recently started paying more attention to their ad and their online store coupons. This is why...they recently changed their online coupons where they have print limits...and the coupons actually scan at their registers! I have had no problems using them! :) I'm very happy about that!

Target allows you to stack coupons--use of a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon on the same item. The ability to do this often makes for a great deal!

Here is what I was able to get this week...

All for $3.72!!

4 Johnson's Buddies Soap @ $.97 ea.
-$1.00/1 from here--used 4
=FREE (plus she gave me the overage on each one)

2 Reese's Pieces @ $2.49 ea.
-$1.00/1 Target coupon
-$1.00/1
=$.49 ea.

2 Wonka Gummies @ $1.59 ea.
-$1.00 printable (no longer available)
=$.59 ea.

2 Kraft Shredded Cheese @ $2.34 ea.
-$1.00/1 Target coupon
-$1.00/2 bought off of ebay
=$.84 ea.

2 100 watt GE Reveal Lightbulbs, 4 pack @ $2.14 ea.
-$1.50/1 Target coupon
-$1.00/1 1/3 SS insert
=FREE (plus overage)

1 Rimmel Mascara @ $2.24
-$3.00/1 All You Magazine
=FREE (plus overage)

2 Teddy Grahams @ $2.00 ea.
-$1.00/2 Target coupon
-$2.00/2 printable (no longer available)
=$.50 ea.

And THIS is why I use coupons!!!!

The other night I pulled out all of my coupons that would be expiring over the next couple of weeks and came across some really good ones that I wanted to try and use. I didn't really have a whole lot going on today so while Joel was at school I thought I'd just kind of wander around the stores and see what deals I could scope out and scoop up! I was rather excited with what I found.

My first stop was Kroger...The cashier said "That's just crazy!". Tim says this is "just WRONG!". But I found it to be quite a worthwhile trip. :)

2 boxes of Chex Mix Bars, 2 boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars, 4 bags of Nature Valley Nut Clusters and 2 bags of Stacy's Pita Chips

I paid $.18!!! EIGHTEEN CENTS!!! For some reason two of my $.50 coupons did not double, they didn't say not to double, so who knows?? Had those doubled...they would have had to pay me...though I don't know that they would actually do that!

How did I do this?
The Chex Mix bars, Nature Valley granola bars and nut clusters were not advertised as part of the deal that was going on--4/$10 and when you buy 4 items, get $4.00 off instantly.

I used the following coupons: 4- $-1.00/1 NV Nut Cluster, 2- $.50/1 Chex Mix bar, 2- $1.00/1 Stacy's pita chips, 2- $.40/1 NV granola bars. I also had e-Coupons loaded onto my card that were used.

My next stop was to Meijer...this was not a picture worthy trip. I just stocked up on Rotel and canned tomatoes since they were on sale. I use these items in a YUMMY salsa found here.

I made a quick stop at Target...another stop well worth my time!

1 pair of tights for Zoe, 1 Air Wick Freshmatic Ultra i-motion and 1 Air Wick i-motion

This cost me $.94!!

AW Freshmatic Ultra--FREE!!
AW i-motion--$.99
tights--$3.99
I had a $5.00 gift card leftover from when I bought the Fiber Plus bars a few weeks ago. I paid the tax out of my pocket.

And then my final stop was Giant Eagle.

I paid $4.44. AND...whoever (they were long gone) used the self-checkout before me, left their receipt and all of their checkout coupons. They left 5 coupons...4 of them for a FREE dozen of eggs and one for $2.00 off of a package of paper towels!!!!

2 tubes of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls--FREE!!
4 packages of Toll House cookie dough--FREE!!
2 bags of Gold Medal Flour--$2.00 ($1.00 ea.)
2 bags of Nestle candy bars--FREE!!
2 cans of Old El Paso Enchilada sauce--$.78 ($.39 ea.)
1 McCormick Pure Vanilla--$.51
1 McCormick Nutmeg--$1.17

You can find coupons for most of the stuff mentioned above in the coupon inserts from the Sunday newspaper and also here, here, here, here, here
and here.

What deals are you finding this week?

Kellogg's Fiber Plus Bars

I had read this on other blogs earlier this week but wanted to check it out for myself before posting...Target has a deal going on right now that if you buy 4 boxes of Fiber Plus Bars, you will get a $5 gift card at the checkout. Right now they are selling them for $2.33 a box and you can get a $.75/1 coupon here. I think you are only able to print this coupon one time...but if you've been one to buy these bars a lot in the past, you may have coupons from the packaging available to use as well??

FREE Crystal Light at Target!

On Sunday (9/13) there was a coupon for $2.00/2 Crystal Light products. This coupon does NOT specify size on it. In the checkout lanes they have Crystal Light to Go in 3 count packages for $.99. You'll be able to get 2 packages for FREE! My cashier tried to tell me that I couldn't get them because the picture on the coupon was of the larger packages--I just had to point out that it didn't say a size so it shouldn't matter, then she was okay with putting them through.

Target Pop-Tart Deal

I promised the kids a date before school started--a date that would include picking out their backpacks for school and to do something fun. Today was Zoe's turn. I took her to get her nails painted...she thought it was the best thing on earth...and I felt a little out of my realm in this fancy place (...fancy to the farm girl in me who has NO fingernails!!) in Levis Commons. Anything for Zoe...:)

We went to Target for the backpack hunt and she found one. We also found a good deal on Pop-Tarts which Zoe was probably just as equally excited about! In the Target ad for this week it said 8 count boxes were $1.75. Today we went in there and they were marked at $1.52. The coupons I mentioned in this post said they were for Blueberry Muffin. Target did not have this flavor so I used a $1.00/2 coupon from yesterday's inserts and two Target store coupons for $.75/1 from here. AND, using my coupons at Target did not go as smoothly as my last visit so there was a little bit of grumbling from my cashier because it wouldn't scan, but she put them through and I ended up with two boxes of Pop-Tarts for $.54!! So shop at Target with coupons at your own risk!
